colorBlack [T9].
head
shapeHead width twice its height. Temples 1.4 times as long as transverse eye diameter. Width of ocellar triangle equal to distance from it to eye plus ocellus diameter. Longitudinal eye diameter twice transverse one, 0.91 times face width. Face height 0.55 times its width, 1.4 times clypeus height [T9]. Head 1.1 times as wide as mesonotum, roundly narrowed behind eyes, twice as wide as long. The width of the ocellar triangle is greater than OOL plus the diameter of the ocellus. POL is 3 times the diameter of the ocellus. The longitudinal diameter of the eye is twice the transverse one, 2.5 times the height of the malar space. Face width 1.8 times its height [T14].
sculptureVertex behind ocelli and temples with numerous fine transverse rugae. Face and frons with concentric rugae more distinct on frons [T9: scaberrimus], clypeus with rather dense punctation, faintly shining [T9]. Vertex behind ocelli with fine transverse rugae, face and frons with concentric rugae, which are weaker on the face [T14].

type description
Microchelonus tatricus Tobias, sp. n. (figure, 20)
Material. Holotype ♀, Poland, "Polen, 414, Tatra, Natl. Pk., Dol. Bialiego, 1000 m, 14.VII.1979, leg. Fischer." Deposited at NHMW.
Description. Female. Head width twice its height. Temples 1.4 times as long as transverse eye diameter. Width of ocellar triangle equal to distance from it to eye plus ocellus diameter. Longitudinal eye diameter twice transverse one, 0.91 times face width. Face height 0.55 times its width, 1.4 times clypeus height. Radial cell 1.5 times as large as 2nd radiomedial one, its anterior margin 0.67 times as long as pterostigma. metasoma elongate-oviform, more narrowing basally than apically, 1.9 times as long as wide, 2.7 times as long as high. Protruding part of ovipositor as long as 5th segment of hind tarsus. Other morphological characters as in M. scaberrimus.
Sculpture on head as in M. scaberrimus; but clypeus with rather dense punctation, faintly shining. Mesonotum punctate, faintly shining, with short sinuate longitudinal rugae before scutellum. Mesopleura and propodeum with fine reticulate sculpture. metasoma with reticulate sculpture and two sharp oblique carinae at base, without distinct longitudinal rugae.
Apex of fore femur and entire fore tibia brownish yellow. Tarsi dark brown. Middle and hind tibiae dark brown, with yellow band. Wings hyaline in basal half and infuscate in apical half. Pterostigma and veins brown, yellow at wing base; parastigma yellow.
Differential diagnosis. Closely related to M. scaberrimus described above, but differing in the characters given in the key. [Arp: tatricus not present in key!]
