colorBlack, dull, thickly and minutely rugulose-punctulate [M].
head
shapeHead transverso-cubical, not contracted behind the eyes; temples dilated ; frontal fovea very shallow, subobsolete [M]. The head is slightly transverse, almost cubic, not narrowed posteriorly; wide temples [Te1]. Head almost cubical [S4].
sculptureThe head is slightly wrinkled, matte [Te1].
colorPalpi dusky; mandibles pitchy at the apex [M].
antenna
shape ♀
shape ♂Antennae with 23 segments, stout, setaceous, very slightly tapering towards the apex (hence probably a ♂) [M]. Antennae rather thick, shorter than body, 23-segmented [Te1]. 25 segments [S4].
color
mesosoma
shapePost-scutellum elevated into a tubercle. Propodeum horizontal, truncated behind, carinated in the middle, hardly bidenticulate [M]. Propodeum with a transverse ridge in the middle and 2 teeth on the sides [Te1].
sculptureMesonotum and scutellum thickly and minutely punctulate, almost coriaceous; scutellum not margined; Propodeum reticulato-rugulose [M]. Mesonotum and scutellum weakly punctate [Te1]. Propodeum roughly rugose [Te1].

sculpture
colorTips of the fore femora, and all the tibiae, yellow-brown, mid and hind tibiae black at both ends ; tarsi blackish [M]. Hind femur black [S1].
wings
shapeMarginal cell broad, shorter than the pterostigma. SR1 almost straight. Radius of hind wing hardly curved at the base. Wingspan 2 1/3 lin. [M]. SR1 straight [S4].
colorWings dark-transparent, veins and pterostigma dark, parastigma and M+CU1 yellow-brown, tegulae black [M]. The wings are slightly smoky; tegulae and pterostigma black; veins M-CU1 and 1-M are reddish, the other veins are brown [Te1].
metasoma
shapeMetasoma deplanato-cylindrical, broader posteriorly, obtuse (hence probably a ♂), with two inchoate basal carinae [M]. Metasoma almost cylindrical, slightly flattened, rounded at apex, with 2 short carinae at the base [Te1].
sculptureMetasoma entirely slightly rugose [Te1].
colorMetasoma immaculate [M].
♀ ovipositor♀ unknown [Te1].
♂ apertureno aperture [M].
other info
distributionDE, GB, PL [FE].
remarksVery like sulcatus, ♂, but distinguished by absence of apical aperture [M].
hostsElachista atricomella Stt. and E. luticomella Zeil. [Te1].
Niger, abdomine immaculate; palpis nigricantibus, mandibularum apice piceo. Femorum anticorum apices cum tibiis ferruginei; tibiae posteriores ferrugineae apice basique nigrse; tarsi nigricantes. Alae fusco-hyalinae stigmate nervisque fuscis, parastigmate nervoque praebrachiali testaceis, squamulis nigris ; areola radialis lata, stigmate brevior; abscissa 3tia modo non recta ; alarum inferiorum radius etiam basi vix curvatus. Corpus opacum, confertim subtilius ruguloso-punctulatum. Genae dilatae, undo caput subcubicum, pone oculos baud contractum ; fovea frontalis minime profunda, subobsoleta. Maris antennae crassae 23-articulatae, setaceae.
Black; metasoma immaculate; palpi dusky; mandibles pitchy at the apex; tips of the fore femora, and all the tibiae ferruginous, the 4 posterior black at both ends ; tarsi blackish. Wings fuscohyaline, nervures and stigma fuscous, parastigma and praebrachial nervure testaceous, squamulae black ; radial areolet broad, shorter than the stigma. 3d abscissa almost straight; radius of hind wing hardly curved at the base. Body dull, thickly and minutely ruguloso-punctulate. Head transverso-cubical, not contracted behind the eyes ; cheeks dilated ; frontal fovea very shallow, subobsolete. Antennas 23-jointed, stout, setaceous, very slightly tapering towards the apex (hence probably a ♂). Mesomesosoma and scutellum thickly and minutely punctulate, almost coriaceous; the latter not margined ; post-scutellum elevated into a tubercle. Metamesoma horizontal, truncated behind, reticulato-rugulose, carinated in the middle, hardly bidenticulate. metasoma deplanato-cylindrical, broader posteriorly, obtuse (hence probably a ♂), sculptured as usual, and with two inchoate basal carinae; anus not perforated. ♂ . Length, 1 1/3 ; wings, 2 1/3 lin.
Very like sulcatus, Nees, ♂, but distinguished by wanting the anal fissure. The sex can only be inferred from the antenna) (which are not quite conclusive) and from the obtuse metasoma, which is not likely to be that of a ♀ .
The single specimen was bred by W. H. B. Fletcher from Elachista atricomella, Staint., or E. luticomella, Zell.
