Head transverse, almost twice broader than long, behind eyes somewhat wider than between eyes (Fig. 1), temples rounded, dilated. Eyes not protruding from outline of head, relatively small, longitudinal diameter 1.9 x transverse diameter. Widest part of temple longer than transverse diameter of eye (1.44 x). Face twice broader than high. Clypeus with its lower margin rounded 3-sided and without any denticulation. Malar space twice as long as base of mandible. Palpi long, maxillary palpi somewhat longer than longitudinal diameter of eye (1.18 x). Head a little wider than mesosoma (1.06 x) [P15, rectus]. The head is transverse, strongly narrowed posteriorly. Malar space equal to 0.5 x the longitudinal diameter of the eye; temples slightly larger than the width of the eye; face almost twice as wide as high. The ocelli are small; OOL is 3-4 times the diameter of the ocellus [Te1]
sculptureHead somewhat shining, minutely ruguloso-punctulate, almost coriaceous. Frontal fovea smooth, shining, carinated in the middle [M]. The face is thinly cross-rugose [T14]. Head slightly transversely rugose, matte, clypeus gently punctate, shining [Te1]. Clypeus shining, barely punctated, well separated from the face [W2]. Head together with eyes and antennae pubescent [P15, rectus].
colorPalpi, mandibles at the apex yellow-brown [M]. Mandible ferruginous, palpi brown [P15, rectus]. Mandibles and palpi reddish [Te1]. Mandibles yellow brown with a black base, palpi dark [W2]. Palpi yellow [S4].
antenna
shape ♀Antennae with 16 segments [H][M]. Antennae equal to the total length of the head and mesosoma; 3rd antennal segment 4.5 times as long as wide [T14]. Antenna longer than head and mesosoma together (see remark 1). 3rd segment 4.4 times longer than apically broad, further joints gradually shortening [P15, rectus]. Antennae 16 segmented, half as long as body, filiform [Te1]. The antennae are about the length of the body, with sixteen segments [W2].
shape ♂Antennae ♂ as long as the body, 27 - 30-segments (27- in English specimens) [M]. ♂ Antennae 27 - 30-segmented [T4][S4].
colorBasal antennal segment black [T4]. Antennae with a brownish base [Te1].
mesosoma
shapePropodeum without carinae, but with 4 teeth [H]. Mesosoma length 1.4 times its height. Propodeum without transverse carina and with small lateral teeth [T14]. Mesosomal length 1.32 times height, 1.42 times width. Propodeum with two lateral and two median strong teeth, yet without any transverse carina. Declivous hind part of propodeum truncate [P15, rectus]. The propodeum has a transverse ridge in the middle, and two teeth on the sides [Te1]. Propodeum with fairly strong lateral teeth, medially two very small teeth [W2].
sculptureScutellum coarsely sculptured [H]. Mesonotum somewhat shining, minutely ruguloso-punctulate, somewhat more rugulose than the head, especially near the scutellum, which is shining in the middle. Propodeum reticulated, rugose, bidenticulate [M]. Mesonotum in front of scutellum cellular-rugose; scutellum shining, posteriorly rugose [T14]. Pronotum rugose. Mesonotum roughly rugose, before prescutellar furrow foveolato-rugose. Notauli indistinct, only a somewhat rougher rugosity indicating its decurrence. Scutellum shiny, deeply punctate, apically rugulose. Propodeum reticulo-rugose [P15, rectus]. Mesonotum coarsely rugose, its middle lobe punctate, shining. Notauli are weak, roughly rugose. Scutellum smooth, shining in the middle. The sides of the mesosoma and the propodeum are roughly rugose [Te1]. Scutellum with some small longitudinal rugae [W2].
color
legs
shapeLegs normal. Hind femur and distal half of hind tibia thick (length femur 0.88 x tibia) [P15, rectus].
sculpture
colorLegs red, only the base of the coxae black. Mid- and hind tibiae dorsally brown, tarsi brown [H]. Legs yellow-brown; coxae black, the fore pair somewhat pitchy; fore femora dark on both edges, posterior blackish, the extreme tips yellow-brown; hind tibiae broadly black at the apex, narrowly dark at the base; tarsi dark [M]. Hind femora at apex brownish red [T4]. Legs brownish yellow (coxae black), tibiae and tarsi darkened [T14]. Legs testaceous, coxae black [P15, rectus]. Legs are black; fore and middle tibiae red, middle of hind tibia and base of tarsus whitish [Te1].
wings
shapeMarginal cell larger than the stigma, SR1 straight, radius of hind wings very slightly curved at the base. Wings 2 3/4 lin. [M]. Vein 1-R1 of the fore wing is half as long as the pterostigma [T14]. Fore wing shorter than body (0.86 x), 2.8 mm. Pterostigma broad, nearly twice longer than 1-R1. Vein r emitted from middle of pterostigma, conspicuously long, 3 times as long as 3-SR, 0.55 times as long as 2-SR (3-SR very short). SR1 straight, 4.3 times longer than r, ending before midway between stigma and apex of wing, r-m 0.83 times r, indistinct (Fig. 2). 1-Cu1 = 0.25 times 2-CU1. Wing-spread 6.6 mm [P15, rectus].Vein r is noticeably shorter than 3-SR, equal to r-m; SR1 curved, almost three times as long as 3-SR. 1-R1 is equal to the pterostigma [Te1].
colorWings infumated; a whitish streak under the pterostigma. Pterostigma and veins dark; 1-M and M+CU1 hardly paler; tegulae yellow-brown [M]. remarksNearest to C. depressus (Thoms.), it differs by the combination of the following features: dilated tempora, sculpture of mesonotum and carapace, black carapace without any light spot, testaceous legs (except coxae). From C. latrunculus (Marsh.), it differs by the venation of the fore wing [P15, rectus].
