Inner margin of eyes indistinctly convergent ventrally [P2]. Face evenly convex, clypeus truncated in the middle of the front edge [Zh1].

The last segment length is slightly larger than wide [Zh1].

colorLegs red, coxae, trochanters and base of femora black. Tarsi and tip of hind tibiae dark [N]. Legs brownish-yellow; coxae, fore femora at the base, 4 posterior wholly except the tips, and tips of the hind tibiae, black ; these last slightly brownish at the base, their tarsi blackish with the 1st segment brownish-yellow; spurs pale [M]. Legs reddish yellow, coxae and trochanters black to brownish black, tarsomeres 2-5 darkening brownish fumous [P2]. Base of legs black; femura and tibiae are reddish-yellow; the hind tibia is yellowish brown; tarsi dark. A few specimens have dark brown hind legs [Zh1].

Pterostigma 3.5x as long as wide, issuing radial vein distally from its middle, R1 as long as pterostigma;1-R1 somewhat shorter than pterostigma, r 0.2x shorter than 3-SR, SR1 faintly S- formed [P2].
colorWings infumated, with a reddish-brown tinge, and a darker stain underneath the dark stigma; parastigma and basal veins brownish-yellow, the rest dark; tegulae black [M]. Tegula brown. Wings weakly fumous (or subhyaline), pterostigma brown, veins proximo-distally opaque yellow to brownish. [P2]. Veins on basal half yellow, distal veins dark brown [Zh1].

shapeMetasoma cylindrical, with two distinct basal carinae, standing out from network of rugae [N]. Metasoma without basal carinae [M]. ♂ Carapace in dorsal view 2-2.3x as long as broad posteriorly, ♀ (1.9)2-2.1 x as long as broad posteriorly. Carapace in dorsal view cylindriform, apically rounded; in lateral view (Fig. 4) 2.66x as long as posterior height, posteriorly rounded (indicated by the upper arrow) and just incurved (indicated by the lower arrow); cavity in ventral view almost as long as carapace itself [P2]. The metasoma is long oval, parallel on both sides; in dorsal view length 2.0-2.2 times the width; the metasoma is slightly curved inward [Zh1].
sculptureReticulate-rugulose [N]. Carapace anteriorly with longitudinal strio-rugosity, posteriorly rugo-rugulose, subshiny (Fig. 3) [P2]. metasoma with rough net-like rugae, sculpture more finely at the apex [Zh1].

remarksThe main difference between Ch. carbonator I Ch. humilis and Ch. cylindrus is restricted to their colour. Perhaps the three forms compose a single species having light and dark coloured varieties [P1].
